I surrender

This was one of the first songs I wrote for this album as I was at a place where I needed to surrender my life to the Lord again after many years away from Him. I know now that despite the bad choices I was making in my life, He was always there slowly and gently guiding me home and stopping me from completely falling away for ever.

I look at creation and know that God is without doubt our Creator. The human race has lost its way through pride and the Enemy’s veil of deception continues to cover its eyes from this truth.

When I was writing this song, I realized that I was not the same person I was before and didn’t even recognise who I was any more. Even though I didn’t know where the Lord was guiding me, I wanted to be obedient to Him by bowing down to Him and allowing the sweet love of Jesus to wash over me.

The words “I remember you” mean that I remember Jesus from when I was first saved at the age of 18 but also at the time of my creation by God, when He hand-knitted me in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:14). This is truly a wonderful reconnection and rebirth for me and is of course something I pray for my family, friends and all those seeking the truth.

Fear of man was the lie
A sleeping serpent in disguise
But secretly you were my guide

And only you hold my hands
Gently as my old self dies
I see sparks begin to fly

I surrender
I remember you
I put my life in your hands
My sweet lord

The galaxies, moon and stars
All creations of your power
How can we doubt how great you are

Humanity just lost its charm
And I’m not sure just who I am
But I bow down before your throne

I surrender, I remember you
I surrender, Your love was always true
I put my life in your hands
My sweet lord

My sweet sweet Lord
My sweet sweet Lord
My sweet sweet Lord
My sweet sweet Lord
